News: Sex, Lives and Videotape wins Tony Rose

8th November 2007

Derby Movie Makers have scooped first place with their entry, “Sex, Lives and Videotape” in this year’s Tony Rose Competition.

The Tony Rose Competition is open to all member clubs of ‘Midland Movie Makers’ (comprising Derby Movie Makers, Nuneaton Moviemakers, Nottingham Movie Makers, Wave at Long Eaton, Chesterfield Film Makers and Leicester Movie Makers). Each club may enter up to 2 films.

“Sex, Lives and Videotape” follows the fortunes of fictional movie making club, LCA Movie Makers – a hapless bunch of amateur video buffs who have their own, unique take on filmmaking. The film has also been chosen as Derby Movie Makers’ entry for the annual North vs. South competition, the theme of which for this year is ‘Faith, Hope and Charity’. Both competitions traditionally share the same theme.

Success was not just limited to “Sex, Lives and Videotape”. Club member Geof Caudwell scooped both first and second place with his entries for his entries in the Camera Thorpe Music Video competition.

Derby Movie Makers wish to thank Nuneaton Moviemakers for hosting what was such a well-organised event. Thanks also to Market Harborough Movie Makers for providing 3 great judges.
