News: DMM win Midsummer Madness 2007
24th June 2007
Derby Movie Makers scooped first place at
this year’s Midsummer Madness competition with their short comedy, ‘The
Homecoming’. The film demonstrates the trouble a cheating husband can
find himself in when he gets hold of the wrong end of the stick.
Midsummer Madness is an annual competition for the 6 movie making clubs
that make up Midland Movie Makers (Derby Movie Makers, Nuneaton
Moviemakers, Nottingham Movie Makers, Wave at Long Eaton, Chesterfield
Film Makers and Leicester Movie Makers).
The competition requires each participating club to produce a short
film in one day on one of two themes that are announced on the day.
They have to plan, script and shoot the film ready for viewing that
evening when all participating clubs converge for a dinner and film
show. The audience decides upon the winner.
It is usually a fun-packed and frantic day, made all the more
challenging by the rule that teams must edit their films in-camera, and
may not make use of any computer-editing facilities or software.
Derby Movie Makers wish to express their heartfelt thanks to Pat Adcock
of Wave at Long Eaton Movie Makers for her tireless efforts in
organising the event.
